Untamed Data builds the software that turns camera-trap photos and video into wildlife data you can trust. The AI runs in Europe. Your footage is hosted in the Netherlands and stays yours. It's made for the people who study, manage, and live with wildlife, from a reserve to a working vineyard, and have to stand behind what they report.
Mission
Our mission
We build Untamed Data as a product. Not a network to join or a movement to sign up for — software you run for your own monitoring program. The value isn't the detection model; plenty of people have one of those. It's the governed layer around it: camera-agnostic capture, provenance you can audit, hosting inside the EU. The kind of thing you need when you have to stand behind your numbers.
We come at this from technology. The goal is to put decisions about land and wildlife on a data-driven footing, from nature policy to protecting a crop, and to treat camera-trap monitoring with the rigor of research: comparable effort and comparable counts, not ad-hoc tallies. The cameras already produce the raw material. What teams lack is the system around it — reliable capture into the cloud, species detection, projects and review, maps and exports they can act on. No more unsorted SD cards and spreadsheets.
The point isn't the software. It's what the software serves: monitoring that leaves the animals alone. Camera traps watch passively, wildlife carries on undisturbed, and the people responsible for a herd, a vineyard, a reserve, or a returning wolf can act on evidence instead of guesswork. A small team, close to the work
Untamed Data is built by a small team that keeps engineering, wildlife AI, and fieldwork close together. We work hands-on across the whole chain — camera hardware and placement, reliable capture into the cloud, the detection models and review workflows, and the data platform around them — so the people using the platform talk to the people building it.
Staying close to the work matters more to us than growing fast: it keeps us accountable for what we ship, and close to the reserves, researchers, and land managers who depend on the data. We'll introduce the team here by name — with faces — as we go.
